Chris VanNorton
If you are reading this and are not currently a member of Rushmore Jujitsu I hope to see you in class in the very near future!
My name is Chris VanNorton and I am a 2nd Degree Blackbelt in the art of Jukite-Jujitsu. I first began martial arts training in 1995 in the art of Shorin-Ryu karate and Shorinji-Ryu Jujitsu. During my training I found I was more interested in the jujitsu side of training rather than the karate side. After the Dojo (school) closed in 1997 I joined the Jukite-Jujitsu Dojo then located at the YMCA in Rapid City. I earned my Blackbelt January 17th, 2000. Shortly thereafter in May of 2000 I enlisted into the United States Air Force for a period of 6 years. While in the Air Force I was stationed in Minot AFB, ND, Osan AB, South Korea, and Hill AFB, UT. I was also deployed to many locations throughout the United States as well as Okinawa Japan. I was honorably discharged from active duty in May 2006 and am currently a student at WDTI studying to become a paralegal.
The thing I love the most about this Dojo are the instructors and the people learning and enjoying the art of Jujitsu. Since I began studying martial arts in 1995, I have been to and worked out at several martial arts schools across the globe and Rushmore Jujitsu still stands alone at the top as far as the quality of individuals teaching and learning the art. From those who have and are still teaching me to those I have taught I personally want to say thank you.
