Origins and Philosophy
History: Jujitsu dates back to the Sengoku period (1467–1603), a time of continuous warfare in Japan. It was developed by the samurai class as a method of self-defense against armed and armored opponents.
Principles: The core philosophy is to use an opponent’s energy and movements against them, making it possible for a smaller or weaker person to defeat a larger and stronger adversary.
